Carmelita Rogers is the First Lady of First Baptist Church South Portsmouth, where her husband of 41 years, Reverend Danni B. Rogers serves as senior pastor. Together they are the proud parents of two sons, Danni Brian Rogers Jr. (Jeanine), the late Dr. Brandon Darnell Rogers, a lovely daughter, Christian Nicole Mattia (Michael) and grandparents to three grandsons, Uriah, Cairo and Malachi. As a woman rooted in faith with a deep love and compassion for people, First Lady Rogers has dedicated her life to serving God and being a beacon of light to those who encounter her path. Affectionately known as “Tesha”, she continues to be an example to others by operating in her Godly gifts.

In addition to her role as First Lady, Sister Rogers is actively involved various ministries, including leading the FBCSP Women’s Ministry, Bible Study Co-Facilitator, and the Youth Ministry. She is the founder and visionary for the United-in-Christ (UIC) Women’s “Outreach” Ministry. UIC is a platform for the growth and development of Women’s Ministries nation-wide. Sister Rogers continues to thrive as she did as an U. S. government civil service employee before she retired from the Naval Medical Center Portsmouth after 33+ years of service. She is educated with a degree in Theology, a reminder that she stands firmly on the Word of God. Through her commitment and spiritual leadership, she continues to be an example of what it means to be Forged in Faith, the mission of her Women’s Ministry. Sister Rogers is virtuous, God-fearing, and filled with Godly wisdom.

Her husband proclaims “My wife is a phenomenal woman in every sense! She is a faithful and devoted wife and a wonderful mother to our children. Next to the triune God, she firmly believes and stands on the premise that “Family Matters.” She loves the Lord and has a heart for lost souls. She strives to be light in the midst of darkness, sunshine where there is rain, a smile to the downhearted and an encourager to the weak and faint.
