Pastor Danni B. Rogers Sr.
Reverend Danni B. Rogers Sr. is a native of Bronx, New York and a resident of Portsmouth, Virginia. He is the son of the late Annie Bea and Carrol William Rogers. Reverend Rogers and his wife of 40 years, the former Carmelita Letitia Jackson are the proud parents of two sons, Danni Brian Rogers Jr., the late Dr. Brandon Darnell Rogers and lovely daughter Christian Nicole Rogers and Grandson’s Uriah, Cairo, and Malachi.
After graduating from High School, Reverend Rogers enlisted in the U.S. Navy and retired in December of 2012 after completing 30+ years of “Honorable Service” as a Chief Warrant Officer.
Reverend Rogers accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior in 1989 at Mount Calvary Baptist Church, Portsmouth, VA. In August of 1993, he was ordained a Deacon. During his tour of duty in California, he received his Commission as a Naval Officer in October of 2000. After a six-year journey, the Lord ordered his steps back to Naval Station Norfolk and his home church, Mount Calvary Baptist church. Reverend Rogers continued to serve in the Deacon ministry as the Co-Chairmen. He accepted his calling to preach the gospel in November of 2003.
Shortly after accepting his calling, God opened a door for him to oversee and minister every Sunday while at sea on deployment for the Gospel Service congregation onboard the USS WASP under the leadership of Chaplain George Adams. Upon his return home after a seven-month deployment Reverend Rogers preached his initial sermon on September 3rd 2006. He was licensed and Ordained by Reverend Dr. William S. Hampton at Mount Calvary Baptist Church.
In May 1997, he received his Associate of Science degree from the University of Hawaii. In December 2009, he received his Bachelor of Science degree from Southern Illinois University. In May 2018, he received his Master of Divinity degree from Virginia Union University, Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of Theology, Richmond Virginia.
Reverend Rogers served on the ministerial staff at Mount Calvary Baptist church as an Associate Minister prior to accepting the call to be the Pastor of First Baptist Church South Portsmouth in Portsmouth Virginia.
