OUR MISSION

“And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.’’

  • It is the mission of the First Baptist Church South Portsmouth to prepare people for their ultimate and great appointment, as we stand before the Lord. Everything we do then is done through the prospects of this Statement of Mission.

  • Our Purpose:

    The purpose of the First Baptist Church South Portsmouth is three-fold:

    1. To EXHALT Christ – John 3:14-18, John 12:32, 1 Corinthians 1:23-24

    2. To EVANGELIZE The Lost – Matthew 28:19-20

    3. To EDIFY The Body – Ephesians 4:7-16

  • At First Baptist Church South Portsmouth, we do this through our worship, our praise, preaching, teaching, small groups, and fellowship with one another and with other bodies of Christ.
